Delayed Gratification
Learn how Delayed Gratification pays $2 per available discard, why using any discard cancels the round payout, and when the tradeoff is profitable.
Verdict: Keep it while the build can win rounds without hand correction; sell it when one needed discard is worth more than the entire payout.
Payout condition
- The reward is based on the number of available discards, not on cards that would have been discarded.
- Using even one discard during the round removes the full Delayed Gratification payout for that round.
- The money is awarded at the end of the round when the no-discard condition remains satisfied.
When the money is worth it
- Reliable hands and enough plays make it easier to preserve every discard without risking the run.
- A weak opening hand can make the promised payout less valuable than correcting the hand immediately.
- Reassess the Joker slot after the economy is stable; an early income card does not need to remain for the full run.
